Employment Protection
CEFM has purchased an employment protection insurance cover which indemnifi es us for legal costs and expenses and compensation awards up to £100,000. This also includes the cost of appeals.
Assisting CEFM Member Schools
Subject to your school following the guidelines set out by CEFM, we will be able to provide legal costs to cover:
Employment
Defend the school in an employment dispute with an employee, ex-employee, prospective employee or trade union acting on their behalf, arising from a breach or an alleged breach of their:
- contract of service with you;
- statutory rights under employment legislation.
Employment Compensation Awards
Following an employment dispute we can claim for basic and compensatory award made against the school by a tribunal.
Employment Extra Protection
At your request, we will also arrange for a solicitor to represent a member of staff in the following circumstances:
- defending an employee in civil proceedings under legislation for unlawful discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, age, religious belief or political opinion;
- defending an employee as a trustee of a pension fund set up for the benefi t of your employees;
- pursuing a claim following an event causing an employee bodily injury.
